JULY 2025 Habersham County Pickleball Club

Keepin' Everybody Happy!

ree

Well, we're trying. As we've grown over the years so have our skills. When our highest level players were 2.0/2.5, we developed and provided introductory and beginners groups. All organized by our own volunteer members. It wasn't long before some wanted greater challenges. They were at the 3.0/3.5 level. We answered with several drill groups as players began to enter tournaments. Not all were interested, and we made sure those folks had safe places to play. Then P1 got injured and, magically, she created our outdoor courts. (For those who may not know, the P1 sign above outdoor court 1 honors that accomplishment.) We dedicated 3 courts for those who wanted to grow to and through 3.0. The use of the remaining three was for those wanting to grow to and past 3.5. We provided multiple intermediate drill groups, and court designations that enabled members to play games that would help them achieve their goals. The Club put on events that would assist in skill growth and integrate members of all skill levels to play together; Habersham Palooza, Round Robins, Dink a Thon and MLP.

Now, to no one's surprise, we have a group near or above the 4.0 level. Well, we don't have three more courts to allocate. To accommodate this level, the group created a playtime outside of the club's Scheduled Open Play time; Courts 1,2, & 3 Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:00am until 8:30am for those who have won a medal in a tournament at or above 3.5. So, let's all support that effort and root for their success.

RULESCLUES:

This tidbit is just a "heads up" for tournament players. Rec play, not so much.

2.G. Apparel. 2.G.1. Safety and Distraction. A player may be required to change apparel that is inappropriate, including that which approximates the color of the ball.

Ball machine rental

We have been gifted a pickleball machine for use by all members. The fee for use will be $20/hr. which includes 150 balls. In order to use the machine, you must sign a waiver, receive familiarity instruction, and pay the fee. Initially Amie and Rachel are the contacts for reservation, training and payment. Use will be managed so as not to have 150 pink balls flying around while courts are in heavy use. This is a great tool, and we are fortunate to have one available to us, so, thanks to our anonymous benefactor.

WEBCAM IS ON

Our court WEBCAM is now LIVE. You can view, in real time, activity on the outdoor courts. The camera is primarily for security, but you can drop in and see whose playing and how many courts are full. Please go to HabPickleball.com or HabershamCountyPickleballClub.com and check out the WEBCAM.

NEW BOARD MEMBERS. IF NOT YOU, WHO?

The best way to impact our club is to participate. With several members having completed their terms of service, we will need new volunteers. If you like the direction we are moving, join us. If not, join us and impact the direction.
